The Iyah energy

Objectives

  • To get energized
  • To break the ice

Scenario

Ask the players to form a circle to ease the process of passing the energy between them. The facilitator begins and passes energy to the person on his/her left by making an arm movement towards him/her and saying “IYAH” energetically. That person will have to do the same thing to the next person on the left and so on until the energy has gone around the circle.

Little by little, new sounds and gestures can be added, for example : .

  • When a player has the energy and brings his/her arms back saying “BANG”, the energy changes direction.
  • When the player bends down and says “CLING”, the energy dodges the next person and passes directly to the next player.
  • When the player points at someone and says “PAM”, the energy comes directly to this person who must pass it to his/her left neighbor by saying “IYAH” and doing the arm movement.
  • When the player announces “Rio de Janeiro”, all the players move singing until they form a new circle.
  • When the player announces “Fireball” and pretends to throw something on the ground to his/her neighbor, each player jumps one after the other to avoid the fireball. Once it has come back to the pitcher his/her neighbor continues with the “IYAH”.

Variations

To personalize the game you can ask the players to propose a word and gesture related to something that has happened during the training and has been experienced by the whole group (for example : the player says “snow” and the person on his/her left side has to wriggle) This can then help to strengthen the dynamics and cohesion of the group.
