How our emotions influence our behaviors and social commitments

Objectives:

  • Understanding what arouses strong emotions in us in the way our society works
  • Identifying how those emotions influence our behaviors, reactions and social commitments.

Scenario

Duration: 45 minutes.

Before the exercise starts, draw to wheel of emotions by R.Plutchik on the ground using painting tape.

First introduce the participants to the wheel of emotions.

Give them then 5 minutes for individual reflection to answer the following 7 questions:

  • What makes me angry us in society today? How do I react regarding it?
  • What saddens me in society today? What is my attitude regarding it?
  • What makes me happy in society today? What is my attitude?
  • What gives me confidence in society today? What is my attitude?
  • That which disgusts me in society today? What is my attitude?
  • What frightens me in society today? What is my attitude?
  • What arouses my interest or vigilance in society today? What is my attitude?

Divide the group in two (2 x 14 people). Invite participants by pairs to answer each question: “What generates emotion “X” for me. What behavior it induces.”

Material required

  • Painting tape to draw 2 wheels of emotions by R. Plutchik on the ground
