The method is to avoid to ask “why” because often the person doesn't know that she knows.

The purpose is :

• to explain the progress of an action (temporal logic, steps, constraints analysis)
• to retrace, to understand the action by questioning the interviewee about the fact and not about the value judgment
• to go into details to make visible what is invisible
• to raise awareness of the know-how
